Cricket - Term 5 Round up

Term 5 has seen a busy period for cricket at Gravesend Grammar School, with a number of fixtures played across various age groups. The teams have shown encouraging signs of progress, with standout performances both with bat and ball.

1st XI vs Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School: The 1st XI recorded a convincing win against Chatham and Clarendon, putting in one of their best performances of the term. Batting first, the team set an imposing total thanks to a series of strong contributions from the top and middle order. The bowlers then maintained excellent control throughout the second innings, regularly taking wickets and never allowing the opposition to build momentum. The result was a well-earned and dominant victory.

U14 vs Norton Knatchbull School: The U14 team also secured a notable win, successfully defending a modest total against Norton Knatchbull. In difficult conditions for batting, the team posted a competitive score through a mix of patience and positive stroke play. The real impact, however, came in the field—tight bowling, sharp fielding, and disciplined teamwork restricted the opposition and created regular breakthroughs, sealing an impressive team win.

Across the age groups, throughout the term, all teams have had valuable match experience and have demonstrated solid development in both skills and game awareness. Coaches have been particularly pleased with the progress shown by younger players and the growing depth across all year groups. We look forward to building on this momentum in Term 6 as the cricket season continues, including the introduction of the West Kent 100.
