In-Year Admissions refers to admission into the school after the normal point of entry at the start of Year 7 through to the end of Year 11. These admissions are almost exclusively a transfer to GGS from another secondary school.
It is a parent’s entitlement to change their child’s secondary school at any time, and schools must process applications in accordance with the Schools Admissions Code.
The offer of a place is dependent on availability and a child’s eligibility to take up this place. As a grammar school, eligible students are those who have met our academic requirements through either the Kent Test (11+) or our own entrance examinations.
Parents should read our In-Year Admissions Arrangements which explain the procedure we follow in processing applications, attached below
Please note, that all year groups from year 7 to 11 are full. In addition to our normal intake number, we have been directed to take additional students following appeals. This means that every year group sits above its Published Admission Number (PAN). The school considers admission of additional students to be prejudicial to the provision of education offered to existing students. As such, further places will not be offered until numbers fall below PAN, which is not likely to happen.
A waiting list is held for year 7, as required by the School Admissions Code and currently sits at over 150 students. Waiting lists are not maintained for higher year groups as it is extremely unlikely that they would ever be called upon.
Please note that further applications are not at all likely to result in a place being awarded. Applications received will be declined. Subsequent appeals will be heard at a date, after application, in line with the School Admission Appeals Code.
