The boys in the U15 team had a successful but challenging season, facing tough sides and still showing great commitment throughout.
We played 14 games in total, winning 8 and drawing 1 . Some of our notable successes were a: 58-0 win against Brentwood School, a very important 36-14 win against Colfe’s School in the National Vase and a 33-0 win over Chislehurst and Sidcup. This win was incredibly special to our team as we were able to be the 2nd U15 side to beat Chis & Sid since 2006. Another monumental part to our season was a great run in the National Vase making it to the semi-finals against Trinity School. Even though we had a devastating loss we collectively stayed committed and dedicated as a squad and believe we developed greatly as a team hoping to further improve into the next season. In this great season some players shone through and earned themselves awards in the School’s Annual Rugby lunch.
Sebastian Denley 10M won ‘Most Improved Player’ for his absolute consistency to training and gym sessions which has greatly developed his skill set as a player. Malakai Brisefert 10L was awarded ‘Defensive Player of the Year’ for his immense tackling and aggression mixed with an incredible work rate on the pitch. Emmanuel Sunmonu 10Q rightfully deserved ‘Attacking Player of the Year’ for his power and desire to score, scoring 17 tries this season. Teddy Williamson 10N won ‘Player of the Year’ by showing his wide set of skills in both defence and attack and being a crucial player in the backline. Overall, every player learnt, developed and performed for the team . The forwards rapidly improved their lineouts, attacking and defending threat; through the coaching of Mr Head and the backs attacking awareness and execution being taught by Head Coach, Mr Stanley. All this together, along with the players' persistence and desire to improve rewarded us with great wins and a greater understanding of the game throughout the season, ready for an even better season next year .
