Cross Country - District Championships

On 5th November, GGS took part in a District Cross Country event at the Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy in Dartford. 16 pupils represented the School across three age groups: Year 7; Years 8 and 9 and Years 10 and 11. The Year 7s came 2nd overall, narrowly missing out on the top spot to Dartford Grammar School. The boys who took part came in the following positions and gained these excellent times over a 2.2km course:

  • 6th Luke George (7N) 8.32
  • 7th Jax Clark (7L) 8.38
  • 8th Ethan Newnes (7K) 8.39
  • 9th Roman Atkins (7Q) 8.45

The combined Year 8 and 9 also came 2nd overall, once again narrowly missing out on the top spot to Dartford Grammar. Positions and times for a 3.3km course were as follows:

  • 6th Brody Amos (9K) 12.02
  • 9th Harry Clare (9M) 12.35
  • 10th Matthew Munzu (9Q) 12.44
  • 11th Henry Lingham (9K) 12.45

The Year 10/11s came 1st overall with the combined finishing results. Positions and times for 4.4km course were as follows:

  • 2nd Sidnwy Gurney (10P) 15.22
  • 3rd Samuel Jarrett (11K) 15.29
  • 4th Teg Regan (10M) 15.49
  • 6th Jacob Barker (10O) 16.57
  • 7th Piotr Zapala (11N) 17.16
  • 8th Ollie Brownshaw (10Q) 17.2

All pupils came in the top 15 and so qualify to represent the District in the forthcoming Kent County Championships.
