Merry Christmas from GGS Music!
It has been another busy term for the Music Department and it’s been great to see our students taking part in such a wide range of activities and performances. GCSE & A Level Music students took part in a school trip to the Southbank Centre to hear the London Philharmonic orchestra perform at their BrightSparks concert. This excellent opportunity allowed our students to see a world class orchestra perform a wide range of works specifically programmed for secondary school music students.
Our Big Gig in November saw students from every year group take part in student led bands, performing a variety of genres and styles. It is always great to see new Year 7 bands take to the stage for the first time, and watch our more experienced bands thrive over the years. The GGS Christmas Concert saw our School Band, Senior Band, Recorders, 6th Form ensembles and Choir perform festive classics.
As always, preparing for the annual Carol Service has been a great pleasure, with regular singing assemblies for Year 7. In addition, our Recorder Group has grown to record numbers, thanks to the hard work of Mrs Dunne and Mr Bleakley.
We look forward to more performances and experiences in the remainder of the academic year, and hope to see you at our events. A huge thank you to the department and supporting staff for all of their hard work, Mrs Dunne, Mr Archer, Mr Annable, Mr Dunne and Miss Brown.
