Our school recently held its inaugural Culture Day, a highly anticipated event planned by the Head Student Team. The day was a remarkable celebration of the diverse cultures represented within the GGS community, and it exceeded all expectations.
Students came dressed in beautiful cultural attire, showcasing their heritage with pride. A special PSHE video was created by Nifemi Soyomokun and Omar Elkhouli with the help of the prefects. This was shown to all year groups during tutor time, sparking fruitful conversations about language and music. The video featured interviews with students and teachers, offering a fascinating insight into the different cultures that make up our school.
A standout feature of the day was the 10 interactive stalls prepared by Year 13 students, each dedicated to a different culture. These stalls provided a unique opportunity to learn about the wide range of cultural backgrounds at GGS, with students teaching their peers about the traditions, history, and customs of their respective cultures.
Overall, Culture Day was a day to remember, where the entire GGS community came together to celebrate the richness and history of our diverse student body. This first-ever event has undoubtedly laid the foundation for future celebrations of the incredible diversity that defines our school.
