The annual Gravesend Grammar School sponsored walk will be taking place on Friday, 20th June 2025. This event has been running for over 30 years and has raised over £100,000 pounds for local charities. Last year, through our incredibly generous parents and local partners, we managed to raise (with Gift Aid) £20,000
This year we are raising funds for the school’s charity, the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund (EHMF) and Gifted Young Gravesham (GYG) and are aiming to reach £30,000! As a school, our students directly benefit from the support that these services provide.
Both are local charities that provide invaluable services for young people in Gravesham and are entirely funded through donations. The mental health of our young people is a priority. These charities are providing frontline support to improve the mental health of our students and ultimately reducing the likelihood of them taking their own lives.
GYG provides many activities for young people in Gravesham to encourage healthy lives and increase well being. This youth work gives young people purpose at a time when they need it the most through an incredible array of arts and health workshops. GGS have been involved with GYG for many years and a number of GGS students have led the strategic direction of the organisation as committee members and contributors - GYG
The school is no stranger to the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund. This is an incredibly committed charity directly providing a self-referral, face-to-face counselling service to young people in Gravesham at the point of need. Mental health referrals can be a long drawn out process lasting sometimes years before professional services are initiated. EHMF have no waiting list, an average time from referral to counsellor of 6 days and have supported over 400 young people since 2022 - EHMF
