GGS @ The Northfleet Carnival

Playing in the Samba band at the Northfleet Carnival was a joyful experience. The band is made up of different percussion instruments like the surdo, snare, chakalo, shakers and the ego bell. These instruments when played together created a groovy foot-tapping beat. It made me want to get up and dance. We were situated on a large truck. As we drove into town I could see people dancing and enjoying the music we were playing. The atmosphere was lively and buzzing as the crowds waited to hear our music and to see the unique colours that were covering other floats. As I saw the crowds dancing and enjoying our music, I was thinking about how those practice sessions at Monday lunchtime with Mr Annable and Mrs Dunne paid off. Parent volunteers walked aside our float to collect money for charity. The carnival was a truly enjoyable experience and I can’t wait to be part of it next year. Adrian D’Silva 7P
