Equality Information, Policy and Plan

Equality at Gravesend Grammar School:

We are incredibly fortunate to be located in Gravesham, such an ethnically rich and culturally diverse place. Our school also benefits from being situated close to London, home to one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse populations in the world with more than 300 languages being spoken in the city. Our students are growing up in a diverse society where they are subject to various attitudes towards minority groups, certain images of these groups portrayed by the media, and their own unconscious bias. We value the diversity of our local area and our school community.

Our school places a real focus on recognising our students as individuals. All have the right to work and learn in a safe, secure and caring environment, in which they are valued. Through our core values of respect, hard work, friendship & exploration we aim to develop the attitudes and characteristics our young people will need to succeed throughout their lives. The relationships which exist between all members of our school community are a strength of our school. We strive to overcome disadvantage and stand against all forms of discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
