Strong Partnerships

The School prides itself on being a community Grammar School and this is clearly demonstrated by its strong partnerships across the Borough. There are formal and informal arrangements with a number of external providers.

In sport, we are linked with many clubs including Gravesend Rugby Club, Old Gravesendians’ Rugby Club, Gravesham Hockey Club, Northfleet Badminton Club, Iroquois Basketball Club, Gravesham Tennis Club and Gravesend and Meopham Cricket Clubs. These links allow us to enhance our provision externally through the use of specialist facilities and coaching.

We have strong links with St George’s and Milton Churches, as well as the Gurdwara. There are a number of services and educational visits during the year. Through our CrEx programme (Creative Exploration) we have helped build a float for the Northfleet carnival and our Samba band can be seen regularly at events across the Borough.

The Grand, Connexions and Porchlight have supported some of our more complex pastoral needs and we are in touch with them regularly to develop our PSHE programme. We have had support from the University of Kent and Southampton University in developing our curriculum and educating our young people about what it is like to attend a university. Encouraging students into Higher Education is important to us as a school and we make students aware of university from Year 9 when they look at universities as part of a careers programme. In Year 10 all students have the opportunity to attend a University  for two days, including a night’s stay in their Halls of Residence.

Local professionals regularly work with our Sixth Form students. They help students to aspire to attend the very top universities and also take up professions that are equally challenging and rewarding. We host a very successful ‘Challenge of Management’ event that consists of a two day conference to develop leadership and management in our Sixth Formers. Lower down the school, we run a Business Enterprise programme that is also supported by local businesses.

We are not only connected locally, but we have also built international links through sports tours and worldwide expeditions. In Languages there are a number of exchanges with schools including College St. Exupery in Amiens, College Maguerite Duras in Montelimar, and College de’Huis in Paris.
