Mission Statement

Physics is a process not just a collection of facts. We wish our students to develop mastery of a demanding knowledge based curriculum across the subject, not limited by the confines of GCSE and A level specifications and examinations. Students will develop broad and deep knowledge of key concepts, high level practical techniques and detailed understanding of the scientific method within the Physics discipline. As students progress through the key stages our curriculum will embrace the deviation of physics concepts and approaches from the other scientific disciplines whilst still recognising commonality. We aim to equip them to investigate, question, challenge and advance the world around them and help to advance the world of the future. We wish to engage their imagination and curiosity through the use of purposeful practical work and contextual problem solving so that the questions themselves become more interesting than getting the correct answer.

Key Stage 3

Science is the best subject. We get to carry out experiments and use laboratory equipment. I love learning about how living organisms work, why things move and all the different types of chemical reactions. Its great fun!!

Key Stage 4

“Everything in the universe can be explained through physics. Physics is the reason for our existence and has made me a more whole rounded individual. This subject has inspired me to be creative and work with my friends to come up with valid hypothesis. I am currently working with students my year to improve our physics skills and exam questions. It has further strengthened my knowledge and has given me the capability to understand more about the world we live in”

Key Stage 5

“Physics has been the highlight of my school education, most notably learning about fields, mechanics and quantum phenomena. Engaging in after school mentoring has been an amazing experience - as helping others in many different year groups has developed my personal understanding. Physics has been my favourite subject!” Arjun Juty Yr13
