Choosing to study Business at GCSE gives students an opportunity to gain a qualification in a subject that is directly applicable to the ‘real world’ and which teaches students life skills as well as theory. Students are introduced to the challenges and issues of starting a business, including financial planning. They explore the key internal functions of business and how the management of these functions can assist in improving the effectiveness and performance of a business.
At A level, Business stretches much further into the corporate world and strategic life in large, global businesses. Students cover all the core skills to enter the working world with a focus on marketing, human resource management, financial skills and operations management. They also study the effects that external factors can have on businesses and how a business can plan for and manage change. Students will study a wide range of topical business examples in order to support their analysis of how to solve strategic challenges facing businesses in their own dynamic marketplace.
